UFC 203 Preview

On the back of one of the biggest cards of all time where Conor McGregor got his revenge on Nate Diaz (And a cool $15mil for his work) we move to UFC 203 and a battle of the Heavy Weights.

In the main card we have 2 heavyweight fights that will shape the direction of the division moving forward.  UFC 203 also sees perennial contender and serial bridesmaid Urijah Faber step back in the cage against young gun Jimmie Rivera, and we finally see the long awaited debut of WWE star CM Punk (Phil Brooks).

Urijah Faber vs Jimmie Rivera

Urijah Faber has the infamous record of the only person in the UFC to fight 3 times for the title and never win.  The Team Alpha Captain, I feel is at the end of career, despite bring hugely popular, its surely looking towards retirement.  Jimmie Rivera is a bad matchup for Faber, he is bigger stronger and younger.  I see Rivera taking this one by decision.

Phil Brooks vs Mickey Gall

I’m going to call it now that the hype train is getting derailed here.  CM Punk (Phil brooks) had a great career as a WWE superstar and is hugely popular however he should of stayed there and played touch butt fake wrestling.  We all know that Brock Lesner made a successful transition from WWE to the UFC, however unlike CM punk, Lesner was a NCAA division 1 Champion, genetic freak, and recently a drug cheat.  CM punk has about 12 months of MMA training and no wrestling or BJJ background.  Gall is better than punk in every aspect and wins by submission in the 2nd.

Fabricio Werdum vs Travis Brown

The winner of this fight will more than likely be the next challenger for the Heavy weight crown.  Werdum is a former champion, and arguably one of the best BJJ practitioners in the UFC.  Travis Brown is probably more famous for dating Ronda Rousey.  Now don’t get me wrong Brown can throw some heavy leather, however I don’t see him getting it done here.  Werdum by TKO in the 2nd

Stipe Miocic vs Alistair Overeem

Now this is going to be a flip of the coin.  These guys are both huge hitters and owners of some highlight reel KOs.  I don’t see this one going past the first round, I think it will be a stand up brawl right from the bell and the first man to land on the chin will be the Champion.  We have seen Overeem have a sometimes questionable chin.  I see the Champ keeping his belt, Miocic by KO in the first round.
