The Sports Widow #12

Friday, November 11th 2016

Good afternoon girls. I missed you all last week. I was down at Derby Day on the Saturday then to the Mornington Peninsula on Cup Day, a shopping day on Wednesday to get a new dress and accompanying accessories for Oaks Day – backed the $100 winner in The Oaks then back home Saturday afternoon the week later. His Highness complained about not backing a winner, tough luck mate!!!

Once again I thought what a week in Melbourne – races, champagne, catch up with plenty of friends, great food and a new outfit – all for free after my win on Lasqueti Spirit in The Oaks. Well my holiday glow was dulled the moment I arrived home. The house looked like a boarding school dormitory. He assured me two things before I left Melbourne – 1. The house is in tip top shape and 2. I am having a very good day at the track on The Bucks party. Well – negative on both fronts – house was a minimum 2 hour clean up and then he rang at 7.15pm – “can you pick me up at The Creek”. I responded “I thought you were having a good day?”. His response was pure genius (in his eyes) – “I want to see you asap – can’t get a Cab”. OK, anything to save some cash. He fell asleep in the car and snored all night albeit on the couch!!

Until next week sisters.
