The Sports Widow #11

Thursday, October 27th 2016

Good afternoon girls. So much for cashing up for the races on Saturday. Thursday night racing at Cranbourne was as His Highness would call it “a washout”. Ever confident he states “well off to Moonee Valley tomorrow night to cash up”. Friday night comes around and the usual rigmorale – doing the form, getting his beer cold and last but not least setting the channels so that he can hit back on the remote to jump between Racing.com and Sky Thoroughbred Live. Jeez Louise!!

Sisters, thank god for me. I put $20 into my Palmerbet betting account and started having my usual $3 by $2. First bet was a $12 winner – Another Diamond – aptly named after myself. I missed the next race but was confident on Rebel Dane in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes. His Highness stated “could not win a chook raffle with all the tickets”. Rebel Dane duly saluted and beat his tip and $250 jumped into my account. The thrill of the win was great but the thrill of seeing His Highness having a tantrum over being beaten by me was gold.

My glow was short lived. As we were heading out to Eagle Farm His Highness states (not asks) “I will have to use your betting account because I am skinned from the last 2 nights plus if you look after the drinks today -  I will fix you up next week!!” You have a win and it turns out to be a loss. Is there any respite.

Until next week sisters.
