The K Man - Australian Open |
Australian Open Golf
Always a sign that summer is really here, the Australian Open kicks off tomorrow.
The field this year is pretty weak. Although we have Scotty and Speith, there is no Jason Day and with the Europeans having their monster Race to Dubai season-ender and some of the Aussies still trying to get their card in the US, many of the usuals are missing.
But of course….we still have to bet !!
At 3-1 I have no interest in Scooty or Speith.
Top Picks
Jonathon Vegas – VEGAS BABY!! The Columbian is out here on a paid visit I suspect and has been playing some awesome golf in the second half of this year on the PGA tour. He is consistently shooting in the 60’s and I think he will like this course. He is awesome value against this field.
Luxbet have him at $23
Rod Pampling – Pamps had his first win 10 years on the PGA tour recently and has carried that form into this tournament. On the weekend at Royal Queensland played the members comp and shot -7 on a course that local pros barely shoot par. When he’s playing well he is a phenomenal iron player which is paramount on this course. Also he has used the Australian Open as a qualifier in the last two years for the British Open and finished top 5 both years. Get on the great Queenslander!!
Luxbet have Pamps at $17
Value Bets
Gareth Paddison – A relative unknown to those outside Australian golf circles, the 36 year old Kiwi showed much promise in 2002 when he was rookie of the year on the Aussie tour. Many years grinding the world tours haven’t yielded much but recently has started to show some form. Had a good showing in Fiji being in the final group at the International and then winning the Fiji Open the next week with some low scoring. You will get a very good price on him worth a look.
Luxbet have Paddo at $251
Daniel Nisbet - Another unknown unless you are a mad keen golf follower. Daniel is a young Queenslander who was a standout amateur but has had mixed showings since he turned pro. Two weeks ago he won in China without much fanfare. Golf is a confidence game and when a really talented player gets a win, the confidence sky rockets and they can put together a serious run of form. Also should get an excellent price.
Luxbet have Daniel at $101
