Perth Cup – 31 December – Fathoms of Gold

His last 8 starts over more than 2000m have him 8-4-3-1.

His last start was in the Cox Stakes which is the G2 main lead up the Perth Cup. He was 100s into 60s.  It’s a WFA race so he was carrying 59kgs to the odds on favourite Perfect Reflection carrying 56kgs.  He led by more than 15 lengths and got caught 3 metres from the finish….unbelievable run considering how hard it went early…you can see it here..

In the Perth Cup it drops to 54kgs while Perfect Reflection goes up to 59kgs….an 8kg swing.

They have Perfect Reflection at $3.00 while they have Fathoms of Gold at $21.00 (and I’ve just backed it at $34.00 using Ladbrokes odds boost).

I then read today that his owner may not run Perfect Reflection as he doesn’t like the 59Kgs she’s been given…early markets don’t get reduced for scratchings so all the more reason to get on early.

Has form on both good and soft going so need to worry about the weather.
