BRANDOS BOMBS MELBOURNE CUP SPECIAL

Monday, October 31st 2016

Good evening Bombers – welcome to Brandos Bombs Melbourne Cup Special. Derby Day was a ripper and finally some favourites got beaten in the later races. McReery a moral beaten in the Cantala Stakes – anyway that was Saturday. One more point – James Cummings – well done Tiger winning the Derby. A few Melbourne Cup stats for punters:

·         No horse has won from barrier 18 since barriers were first introduced in 1924.

·         The saddlecloth numbers four and 12 have won the Cup a record 11 times

·         The first winner, Archer, is said to have walked from Sydney to Melbourne in 1861, and again in 1862.

·         Reality TV Star (loose term) -  Rob Mills banged Paris Hilton at the 2003 Cup.

My thoughts are with the horses not the “Eye Candy” – ooh maybe a bit of both!!

Here we go:

Melbourne Cup Knob

Frankie Dettori you are the only Melbourne Cup Knob of the week. You – Frankie, you can jump off a horse in delight but last year you smashed most of the field in The Cup and then you defended your actions. In Australia - we care about our race horses and more importantly all jockeys. You copped $20k fine and then flitted off to HK. You are a dead set Knob. I am concerned that from barrier 24 on Wicklow Brave you will do the same. Your mini Melbourne Cup is staying at my place!!

Melbourne Cup BOG

Katelyn Mallyon – your enthusiasm and confidence is sensational. By the way – Katelyn is riding for one of the most successful Melbourne Cup owners of all time. Good luck Katelyn – have a safe ride and win – the Lloyd Williams sling is allegedly super.

The Cup

I am going with team Freedman. Lee is back after a sabbatical – and it takes a while to get a feel for the horses – in my view he now has a feel. No disrespect to his training partner Anthony (aka brother) – Anthony does the pre – training. I am tipping Exospheric – allegedly had the heavy shoes on in The Caulfield Cup. Lee is a master of the “reverse spin” – only Bart Cummings was better. I am also throwing Our Ivanhowe in – he has been very dour this time which suggests to me he has been trained for the 3200m trip. For the favourite punters – your time is at end.

Good luck over the weekend and remember to follow me on Twitter, Instagram and follow and Share my Facebook page. Also please gamble responsibly.
