BRANDOS BOMBS 2017#1 |
Good afternoon Bombers and Happy New Year Bombers Yada yada yada. I read The Sports Widow and The Duke complaining they needed a holiday for their holiday. Each to their own. I had a lovely week down the coast – beach, pool and plenty of cans watching the Test and all forms of sport. A little bit of Festivus for the rest of us whilst scrolling through Facebook looking at all these miserable shots of families skiing in Japan, Canada or the US. I can understand their angst, particularly the fathers – the $A is not exactly trading at its peak and they could see my photos of a can and the cricket in the background!! The New Year has arrived and not much has changed – Big Bash both men and women, the races and my new-found interest in the NFL – good game for cans!! Goes for 3 hours and plenty of time for can refills and piss breaks.
New in 2017
There will be a few new additions to the Sports 360 repertoire for you as Bombers to participate in. Firstly, my website will be undergoing a makeover in the next month so that it is more reader friendly. Secondly some competitions to enter and a number of sports and racing functions for Bombers to attend. A brief example is listed below:
1. Punters Clubs
2. NFL, AFL and Super 18 tipping competitions
3. Super Bowl Function at the Norman Hotel – Monday 6 February
4. Country race days and City race day Marquees
I hope you embrace the changes better than the great George Costanza -
You know what I've never understood? Why did they change the siren noise? When I was a kid, it was always 'WAAAAAH WAAAAAH' and now it's 'WOO WOO WOO WOO WOO'. Why'd they do that? I mean, did they do some research? Did they find out that WOO-WOO was a more effective siren than WAAAH?" "Hey, and what about those English sirens? 'EEE YAAAH, EEE YAAAH, EEE YAAAH, EEE YAAAH'..."
Here we go:
Knob of the Week #1
Let’s not beat around the bush here – Brandos Bombs 2017#1 Knob of the Week is Kevin Pietersen or KP. You are a dead set goose, tool, by-blow and in the terms of your good mate Michael Clarke a “jaffa” of a knob. Your prancing on the field, your self-centric commentary and your whinging to the Umpires on the field is second only to Pup’s recall of his life called a book. Please KP – Piss Orrf back home and with it you can take your 2017 Brandos Bombs Knob of the Week#1 trophy with you – Clarkie’s butt plug!!!
BOG #1
This week’s 2017 BOG#1 is the Fighting Schoolteacher – Jeff Horn. The Brisbane schoolteacher has been declared the next challenger to WBO World Champ, Superstar and one of the greatest fighters in his divisions - Manny Pacquiao. Great stuff Jeff. Suncorp Stadium on April 23 is the favourite to host Australia’s biggest ever fight event. C’mon Jeff, surely your Uncle (Lord Mayor of Brisbane Graham Quirk) can pull a few strings. Regardless of where the fight is Sports 360 is backing you Jeff. You are our 2017 BOG#1 and your Sports 360 water bottle is in the mail to you.
1. Cricket
The Pakis tried hard in the Test Series and with some better fielding and a contribution from their Captain could have won one of the games and drawn another. The first ODI is on as we speak at the Gabba and I am tipping the Pakis to be more competitive in this. It does help that the average age of your team is 26yo not 34yo as in the Test Series. However, the real action is the BBL or Big Bash – great cricket – big hitting, great catching and barring KP, enjoyable commentary. Chris Lynne (until selection in the ODI) superstar, Ben McDermott last night and our adopted QLD’er Bas McCullum whom has made more field changes than he has bets on a daily basis! Testament to the series is the crowds – 34000 people to the Heat game on Wednesday night and an expected 30000 today at the ODI. Go the Heat and go the Aussies!!!! The BBL Competition winner is tight – markets supplied by Luxbet:
Perth Scorchers $3.50
Melbourne Stars $4
Sydney Sixers $4
Brisbane Heat $5.50
Hobart Hurricanes $15
Melbourne Renegades $26
Adelaide Strikers $34
Sydney Thunder $34
2. US Sports
The Duke has been on a holiday for 2 weeks at Noosa with his in-laws and he, like the Sports Widow reckons he needs a holiday for his holiday. The big Canadian (that’s The Duke) was clearly outdrunk, outplayed and outvoted by his in-law clan. He has assured me that he did not back a decent winner whilst on his break so going into the NFL play-offs The Duke is the tipster to follow. Luckily, this time of year we get Saturday night games in the US which equates to Sunday mornings here in Oz. Sunday morning at 7:35 am we have the Seattle Seahawks at the Atlanta Falcons. The Duke likes the Seahawks at $2.90 head to head against the Falcons. The second game is on at 11.15am Sunday with The Patriots hosting The Texans. The Duke is taking the Texans at $10 head to head and the +15.5 points at $1.89. Wow – go to www.sports360.com.au to see how he has done his form.
3. Racing
Magic Millions race day is finally upon us after more lead up events than an Anthony Mundine boxing card. You have to hand it to Gerry Harvey and Katie Page – this is a genuine Glitter Strip Carnivale. Beach racing, Polo, Royalty, a $10m race day and the high profile yearling sales attached. Unaccustomed as I am to handing out free advice, in this instance as a Magic Millions stalwart I am going to. Firstly, if you are going to the track, it is fuc.in hot and fuc.in busy – so grab as many cans as you can when you are at the head of the queue. Secondly, leave before the last and if you are thirsty (if pleeease) go to the Sales complex – no line ups and plenty of fillies to inspect. Thirdly, lastly and most importantly don’t put your hand up!!!! Racing is at HQ in Sydney and Melbourne tomorrow with 9 race cards. My best for tomorrow, prices supplied by Luxbet: To grab Luxbet’s sign up special – deposit $50 and get $150 in bonus bets go to http://record.luxbetaffiliates.com.au/_xb9W6h5JNgiwVhdeTu4fZWNd7ZgqdRLk/1/
