BRANDOS BOMBS #017 |
Good morning Bombers – Well – Brando (the horse) performed like his namesake at Eagle Farm – “very coltish”!!! I hope for his sake that he is not in line for the ultimate gear change. We will follow the ups and downs of Brando the horse and I can proudly say he is now our first mascot. As predicted the Wallabies were not up to the class of England and soundly beaten. The Aussie cricket team blasted the Black Caps off the park – more on that below. The Pipe Masters on hold in Hawaii and The Sports Widow has already gone on holidays – as they say “only a rort if you are not involved”. A bit of shrinkage on this week’s Bombs due to a quite weekend of sport – I liken it to the incident George Costanza suffered after being seen naked by Jerry’s girlfriend – “I WAS IN THE POOL” Here we go:
BOG #008
This week’s BOG#008 is NOBODY. It is so difficult to find anyone in sport (on a regular basis) that does anything other than give themselves a wrap, throw a tantrum or make a knob of themselves. Over the next year there will be notable mentions but not on a weekly basis.
Knob of the Week #017
Standout winner this week and a repeat winner. Some of you may have seen the early release of this Knob of the Week on FB. Michael Clarke you are Brandos Bombs Knob of the Week #017. On Tuesday afternoon after one of the Aussies bat broke at the splice, Clarkie commented “they need to get a new brand of bat, a Spartan or a Slazenger – I never broke one of them”. Blatant self-promotion is not tolerated by the cricket viewing public and frankly nor is you piss-weak commentary. Add this to the whingeing you put on paper and called it a book and you were a moral to receive Brandos Bombs Knob of the Week #017. Nothing in the mail for you but you can add some engraving to the Urn you received for Knob of the Week #011
1. Cricket
The 1-dayers were interesting if you happened to be able to watch them in the afternoon. If you were unable to do so then, frankly it was as boring as reading Michael Clarke’s book. Bring on the Test matches against Pakistan. The first day/night test at the Gabba starting next Wednesday night should be superb. However, the real action commences on December 20 for the start of the KFC Big Bash. I managed to take my kids to the Gabba to watch last year and it is sublime. I will also be having a tipping competition on the Big Bash so watch out for details of that in next week’s Bombs: Aussie/Pakistan Test series winner odds supplied by Luxbet:
Aussies $1.25
Pakis $7.50
Drawn Series $6.50
2. US Sports
The Duke had a well-deserved weekend off so he will be chomping at the leather to get his winners out there. Go to www.sports360.com.au on Sunday night to grab the mail from The Duke.
