BRANDOS BOMBS #016

Saturday, December 3rd 2016

Good afternoon Bombers – Go Brando, kick Brando, your home Brando, Brando you genius!! This could be any number of things people have cheered for – a length of the field try I scored (plenty of them) or me kicking home in the 25m freestyle at The Camp Hill State School grade one trials, but it is neither of them or any other of my numerous sporting glory days. No, it is Eagle Farm race 2 no 4 - Brando owned by BRC Chairman Neville Bell and trained by John and Chris Meagher. Clearly Neville has seen me in action and named his 2yo colt (whom I am going to meet at the track today) after my athletic prowess. I have seen a photo of him and I can definitely see the parallels between Brando and Brando– strong, good looking, a deft touch with the filly’s and a big set of ……. I will be posting to Youtube of the heroic efforts of my namesake at about 1pm- so jump on Youtube and search “brando the horse.” I was going to give a rundown of other sports but this race is a milestone for Sports360°. Here we go:

BOG #07

This week’s BOG#007 is Australian golfer Jarrod Lyle. Jarrod (who has survived 2 bouts of cancer) lobbed a hole in one on the Par 3 5th at the Australian PGA at Royal Pines. Top stuff mate and at 2 under going into the final 2 rounds – I am rooting for you. Congratulations on winning this esteemed award. As Brandos Bombs BOG#007 – a pair of my match winning Under7 Coorparoo Aussie rules boots are on their way.

Knob of the Week #016

The NRL and NRL players continue to dominate this segment and it was extremely difficult to award just one winner. Semi Radrada or The Clubs presidents rallying against John Grant and the ARL. However, Brandos Bombs Knob of the week #016 is The NRL itself. Allowing 2 players – Valentine Holmes and Jason Taumalolo to trial with The NFL whilst a year to run on their contract and still being paid by their respective clubs whilst being in the States. Whilst their club team mates are sweating it out in pre-season training  those 2 are prancing around the US. You – THE NRL are worthy winners of Brandos Bombs knob of the week #016. My Parramatta jersey signed by the great Chris Phelan is on its way.

 1. Cricket

The Brandos Bombs inspired win by The Aussies in the last test was heartening. Youth and enthusiasm were key themes to the victory in Adelaide. Bring on the Day/Night test at the Gabba against The Pakis starting on December 15. The focus now turns briefly to The One Day Series against The Kiwis starting tomorrow at the SCG. The Kiwi cricket team constantly have to prove themselves to the All Black loving NZ crowds. The good news for The Kiwis is that the games here in Oz are home games – more Kiwis in Oz than in the land of the long white cloud. I see them taking  this series out with some aplomb. Our one day side is nothing of the teams of previous eras and this will provide further turmoil for the ACB. Series winner odds supplied by Luxbet:

Aussies               $1.33

Black Caps         $3.25

2. Rugby Union

The Wallabies were close on the scoreboard but were not really in the match against The Irish last week and the Irish can consider themselves the top International Team of the European Tournament. The Wallabies now take on arch rival England. The press has been dominated by the Randwick 3 – the Aussie coach Cheika and English coaches Jones and Ella. Grow up fellas – Randwick is not the centre of Rugby as you would believe it to be and the last time Randwick won was in 2004. I am leaning towards England but I can assure you I won’t be up at 12.30am to watch it. Odds supplied by Luxbet:

England           $1.30

Wallabies        $3.50

Line at $1.90 is 8.5 points

3. Surfing

World Surf League is on in earnest this week in Hawaii. The women are in round 3 as I speak and I have to say Lakey Peterson is wearing a lovely bikini bottom and of course surfing well. The men’s comp commences on Thursday with the season-ending Billabong Pipe Masters at Banzai Pipeline. Big waves, big tubes and big wipeouts. Great viewing and my tip is Julian Wilson – great QLDer to take out the comp for the second year around. He is at the juicy odds of $18.

4.      US Sports

The Duke had a ripper day tipping the Chiefs at $2.65. Go to www.sports360.com.au on Sunday night to grab the mail from The Duke.

5.      Racing

A top-quality card at Eagle Farm with the debut of BRANDO in race 2 and the $200000 Group 3 George Moore Stakes. Racing in Victoria is at Pakenham for their stand-alone meeting featuring the Pakenham Cup. Sydney racing continues at Rosehill – c’mon Tony Gollan let’s break your Sydney maiden for your new stables down there. You’re a great QLDer – lets knock off some of those Sydney posers. The WA carnival ends today with the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic. Let’s find a winner. Markets supplied by Luxbet:
