BRANDOS BOMBS #015

Friday, November 25th 2016

Good afternoon Bombers – As I write this (745 am today as I have a lunch to go to) the Australian Cricket team are reborn!! I have never heard so much sh.t since Anthony Mundine claimed himself The Greatest. More on that below. The Kangaroos demolished the Kiwis and rightly reclaimed their place as the best of four teams or basically beat The Kiwis this time. Another Costanza moment – Wallabies up by 2 points in Paris but once again I reiterate the teams they have played are second rate compared to England and Ireland.  Ireland this weekend and England the following weekend. The Aussie golf open was taken home by Jordan Spieth after all the Aussies imploded when they had their hands on the trophy – Greg Norman – “maybe the force be with you”. Not much on this weekend you may say – incorrect. I have found plenty of sport to watch, listen to and have a wager on. As “Fast Eddie Felsen” said  to Minnesota Fats “Rack em up.” Here we go:

BOG #06

This week’s BOG#006 is Cameron Smith – The Kangaroos captain. Another trophy -  all done with grace off the field and fierce competitiveness on the field. Now has 42 Tests for Australia, 39 Origin Caps and 335 NRL games and does not look like stopping. Has never featured in an inquiry in regard to his off- field behaviour but celebrates a win as good as Alfie. Cameron, you are a well deserved Brandos Bombs BOG#006 – your Brandos Bombs Pewter mug is in the mail.

Knob of the Week #015

Very rarely do I award Brandos Bombs Knob of the week awards posthumously, however this bloke deserves some recognition as a knob of the week. I watched a show on television last night and some of the commentators gave this bloke a wrap for his basketball skills. Anyone who understands what Knob of the week means understands it is not about your sporting prowess but your off-field antics. Dennis Rodman you are posthumously awarded Brandos Bombs Knob of the week #015. Now, Dennis to be fair you are not dead but your antics, haircut and your visit to North Korea to sing Happy Birthday to Kim Jong Il or Ul gets you this award. C’mon tiger – why? As Brandos Bombs Knob of the week #015 and first posthumously alive winner you receive Brandy Log (the great Casino Cup winner) as a stuffed greyhound. Send that to KimJong Il and see if he can eat that champion!!

1. Cricket

I have to say The Australian Cricket Board must read Brandos Bombs. (in fact, there is actually one Board member who receives it) A complete clean-out of the underperforming team. It started with sending players back to Shield Cricket to compete for spots, then the Chairman of Selectors retired. I have put my hand up for the Chairman of Selectors job – I think meet the credentials required if you call these credentials:

·         Have played cricket

·         I know the other selectors – well I have waved to them at the Cricketers Club

I just need the last one which I am confident of achieving – in fact it is a moral for me. I need to down at least 44 cans on a flight to London – piece of piss – have just jumped onto a Crowdfunding page to get this trip going. So, what will I do when I am Chairman – pick Queenslanders only or those who have come to our great state to play. I will be cheering for the Aussies – always will and would cheer for the Taliban against South Africa . Odds after day 1 supplied by Luxbet:

Aussies         $1.67

Proteas         $2.50

Draw             $12

2. Rugby Union

Once again, the “Cheese eating surrender monkeys” ruined my all up over the weekend by losing to The Wallabies. Should be expected from Les Bleu. The Yarpees were beaten by Italy – that was, as Kenny Banya says “gold Jerry gold”. This Sunday morning at 330am the Irish host The Wallabies at Aviva Stadium in Dublin. Ahhh the hype continues and I cheer for The Wallabies but the hype is coming from the media and the team, which says to me that it is bullsh.t. The Irish craic will be too much for the Wallabies and the ref will play no part this weekend as it won’t be close. Anyway, this way all you Bombers can back The Wallabies as I am taking Ireland at the minus. Odds supplied by Luxbet:

Ireland             $1.75

Wallabies         $2.08

Line at $1.90 is 2 points

3. Football (most call it Soccer)

The Roar were red hot last week against the posers from Sydney FC but managed another draw. Tonight they are hosted by The Western Sydney Warriors behind the flannel curtain at Spotless Stadium starting at 6.50pm. The Wanderer’s crowd are completely mad – flares, throwing bottles (at their own players) and streaking. My man BT has stated to me The Wanderers are right off so go hard on The Roar. He suggests taking The Roar to win by 2 goals at the $6. Big call BT but I am with you Tiger.  C’mon The Roar. Markets supplied by Luxbet:

Wanderers         $2.45

Roar                  $2.75

Draw                 $3.45

4.      US Sports

The Duke had a rare off weekend but he is not the first and to be fair that was his worst weekend – mine is every weekend!!! Go to www.sports360.com.au on Sunday night to see the resurgence of The Duke.

5.      Golf

The K Man is a value punter and his value bets at The Aussie Open were right in the mix up until the last few holes of the 72 hole tournament. The K Man has opted out of the World Cup of Golf stating there is no value and is looking toward the Australian PGA at Royal Pines starting on Thursday. Keep an eye out for his mail at www.sports360.com.au on Wednesday.

6.      Racing

The end to The Spring Racing Carnival and some highlights – my big day on Emirates Stakes day comes to mind or my big win on Moir Stakes night but other than that just another fill up for the bookies. The Brisbane Summer Carnival commences tomorrow and it is a good promotion for racing in Queensland. The State of Origin Jockey’s series with Kerrin McEvoy coming up and M Rodd coming back from Singapore. Go Roddy. Speaking of jockeys – Rory Hutchings you could not have ridden a broomstick worse than you did on Salmanazar last Saturday. You are banned by Brandos Bombs.(until the next winner I back you are on). Tomorrow sees Mooney Valley, Rosehill, Eagle Farm and the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes in Perth. Let’s find a winner. Markets supplied by Luxbet:

Mooney Valley:

Best Bet:           Race 6 No 6 Payroll

Best Roughie:    Race 5 No 2 Renew

Rosehill:

Best Bet:         Race 7 No 3 Moher
