BRANDOS BOMBS #013 |
Good afternoon Bombers – a flogging in the cricket by the Yarpees in Perth (with their bowling strike weapon injured after day 2). The Wallabies played out of their skin – another Costanza moment for me!! The Duke was on fire with the Falcons covering the line, The Ravens home at $3.40 and The Packers covering the line – 3/3 Duke – well done. Tough day at the track last Saturday to finish the Carnival but I managed to finish square!!?? That old chestnut I can hear The Sports Widow saying. Then Big Donald Trump trumped Hilary Clinton to become The President elect. I was always told never talk about religion or politics but the ridiculous frenzy in Australia about his win was farcical – if you want democracy you cop the consequences. Here in Oz we have had Palmer/Hanson/Family First and the Sex Party – suck it up (no pun intended). Let’s look ahead to a huge weekend of sport and the start of The Sandown Racing Carnival. As the great Irish Comedian Dave Allen said “always look forward because you can’t have a drink at your own wake” Here we go:
BOG #004
This week’s BOG#004 is the AFL. Why you ask? The unveiling yesterday of the Women’s Comp uniforms. Fit, healthy looking young women embarking on a trailblazing competition next year. I see the Women’s AFL comp grabbing a big crowd before the men’s games next year. Well done AFL – well done girls. Up there Cazaly. Maybe we could get a Lingerie calendar of the best players before the season starts?? Whoops – got ahead of myself. BOG #004 – The AFL women’s comp, your NFL Lingerie League calendar is in the mail.
Knob of the Week #013
The NRL players just keep doing it for me here. I am a fan of yours Jarryd Hayne however your complete fu.k up presenting to Gold Coast school kids about cyber bullying gets you Brandos Bombs Knob of the Week #013. Porn on your phone – pleeaassse who does that? IPAD is much better. Anyway – Hayne Plane a big, big stuff up. As Brandos Bombs Knob of the Week #013 your subscription to Redtube (whatever that site is) is in your inbox.
1. NRL
Could Wayne Bennett upset The Pommie journalists anymore?? The answer to this is yes. They just aren’t used to Bennys style and I would agree – c’mon Wayno give us something. The Kangaroos are meeting The Poms at 12 am Monday morning – you would want to be on a serious bender to be up to watch that. You would also have to be on “stuff you don’t get behind the Chemist’s counter” to watch the Kiwis take on Scotland tomorrow morning. Go the Kangas – odds supplied by Luxbet:
Kangaroos $1.23
Poms $4.25
Line at $1.90 is 13.5 points
2. Rugby Union
If my memory serves me correct – I potted The Wallabies and then gave The All Blacks a wrap. Well, Costanza is at his best. Wallabies played their best game of the year and The All Blacks were beaten by The Irish for the first time in 101 years. If Dave Allen was still alive he would have knocked off a couple of bottles of Jameson’s. This weekend sees the Wallabies hosted by the fiery Scots and The Poms take on The Boks at 12.30am Sunday morning. My view is tape both games. Genia is back and The Scots are talking themselves up. Wallabies in a canter - odds supplied by Luxbet:
Wallabies $1.22
Scotland $4.50
Line at $1.92 is 10.5 points
3. Football (most call it Soccer)
C’mon The Roar – you are on a roll. The Adelaide Reds host the roar tonight in sleepy Adelaide at 6.50pm tonight. The Premiers from last year - The Reds are on a 4 match losing streak and the drum from “the blue sports shoe” is - The Roar to give The Reds a touch up: Markets supplied by Luxbet:
Adelaide $2.45
Roar $2.65
Draw $3.45
4. Cricket
Can you believe the batting implosion of the Aussies? Well I can – we have a number 6 who cannot get runs or wickets – Mitchell Marsh your chances are nearly over. Credit to the Proteas – they fought hard and deserved the win. As an aside – Michael Clarke you are without doubt the worst commentator of all time. My tip for all Bombers if you are watching the cricket – watch channel nine on mute and have 4BC – 1116 on your dial on your tranny. Typical Tasmanian weather on its way – rain, more rain and chilli conditions. The draw is the best backed. C’mon Aussie C’mon!! Markets supplied by Luxbet:
Australia $4.50
Proteas $4.20
Draw $1.60
5. US Sports
The Duke, The Duke, The Duke is on fire. Go to www.sports360.com.au on Sunday night to continue the roll of The Duke.
6. UFC
The Conor McGregor show rolls on together with expletives and a bit of Dave Allen Irish irreverence. Sunday morning. “X Marks the Spot” gives a full rundown of the UFC blood bath bouts in the Hexagon. Go to www.sports360.com.au at around 10am Sunday morning to get the drum.
7. Racing
The Sandown Carnival starts tomorrow with a quality card - The Sandown Cup, Sandown Guineas and The Zipping Classic. The overseas imports have been tipped by everybody bar the Tea Lady but this day is not unlike Tatts Day at the end of the Brissie Carnival. Many trainers set their horses to take the good money on offer in weaker grade. Doomben and Rosehill as the Brisbane and Sydney meets. Let’s find a winner: Markets supplied by Luxbet:
Sandown:
Best Bet: Race 5 No 5 Prompt Response
Best Roughie: Race 8 No 3 Famous Seamus (for Dave Allen)
Rosehill:
Best Bet: Race 9 No 8 Nieta
Best Roughie: Race 7 No 3 Darci Be Good
Doomben:
Best Bet: Race 2 No 2 Another Whiskey (for Dave Allen)
Best Roughie: Race 7 No 13 Col’N’Lil
